Where will the water come from to supply the pulp mill?
In simple terms, water which normally flows down the Cataract Gorge and into the Tamar River is stored in the Trevallyn Dam. This dam is used to provide some of Launceston’s power and residents with their water supply. In the event of the pulp mill going ahead, Trevallyn Dam will also supply the pulp mill with all its water, 26,000 – 40,000 megalitres per annum.
