A SECOND confidant of John Howard is urging that consideration be given to shifting the proposed Tasmanian pulp mill to a less sensitive location. Former NSW Liberal Party president Bill Heffernan yesterday warned that pulp mills of the type Gunns proposed for northern Tasmania were polluting waterways and fisheries “all around the planet”. He told The Weekend Australian that consideration should be given to shifting the mill, planned for the Tamar Valley, north of Launceston, to Hampshire, almost 100km to the west.
