Enough! Already
The Oracle
G’day Ed. Hopefully this is the way to submit my opinion on the content of the TT – august journal that it is …
WHILST I could never be regarded as a greenie I never-the-less understand and recognise the need for an alternative means of conveying the green view of the world to the broader public than that offered by the mainstream media.
However, it seems that wherever one looks these days there is an almost breathless haste to publish everything the greens say on the issue of the PROPOSED (caps intentional) pulp mill.
It may or may not be the case that the Gunns Board of Directors have been influenced in their recently announced quandary over the decision to proceed or not but whatever the reason, at the end of the day, any decision will be based on hard commercial reality – that is, what is in the best interests of the shareholders.
I think in all the brouhaha this has been forgotten. The approval process may have been hijacked, the government may well have set up a well funded propaganda unit, Lennon may well have gone to Canberra at the behest of John Gay and the scientists (pro and con) may all be partly right and partly wrong but lets get a bit of perspective going here. If it doesn’t stack up as financially beneficial to the shareholders it won’t go ahead.
It would be laughable if the greens / anti mill groups claimed a victory on this issue as the commercial realities of capitalism still hold more sway than any green tinged rhetoric.
Lets have some more articles of of interest to a broader audience of the TT than is currently being published.
Cheers,
The Oracle
