The log truck danger (3)

I can’t follow Jim Cox’s logic here that our roads are small and narrow so we should just turn a blind eye to the carnage and flagrant flouting of the laws.

The main points are:

* Log truck drivers have a bad name in the industry: they drive too fast, too long and too dangerously for the loads and size of their rigs. (not all of them but they are over represented by cowboys)

* B doubles were only supposed to be used on major highways when they were allowed on the roads. (isn’t it strange how taxes creep up and rules get bent for big business)

* We have train lines for this sort of freight, it is not as if the logs are made of fairy floss and have to be chipped before they turn to mush overnight is it.
