THERE are three legitimate ways to stop the pulp mill. Two of them, the court case and the federal government EPBC assessment process, are out of our hands. We can do nothing further to influence the outcomes of those processes. Which leaves the third: to influence the MLC’s to vote against the project …
We have been lobbying and briefing the MLCs in order to get them to understand the consequences of:

(a) the exclusion from consideration of the impacts of the proposed pulp mill;

(b) the collapse of due process and;

(c) the decline of probity in government.

The MLC’s have been told their only choice is to vote YES or NO to the pulp mill. This is not true. There is another option. They can vote NO to the process. They don’t have to say NO to the mill per se, just NO to the process. In order to strengthen the case for demanding the reinstatement of due process and proper governance we must collect at least 50,000 signatures. Should the MLCs choose to ignore the statements of 50,000 Tasmanians, they will have to decide what that might mean for them.

Please download some copies of the petition form above or from the TAP website (www.tapvision.info).

Take the forms around friends, neighbours, acquaintances, workplaces etc. You will find that most people are very happy to sign, given the perceptions about the way the government has handled this issue.

If you do not want this pulp mill and want to reclaim government for the people by the people then this is you last legitimate chance to do something about it. Filled out forms need to be sent to the address at the bottom of the form by August 17th.

Get busy, people!
