GUNNS executive chairman John Gay is the timber industry’s equivalent of Chris Corrigan on the waterfront. Corrigan copped enormous personal abuse to make the waterfront efficient and Australian industry prosper. Launceston-based Gay has a passionate belief in the future of plantation timber in Australia, which has caused him and his family to be vilified, Corrigan-style – not easy to handle in a small city. But the personal abuse only increases Gay’s passion.
