Long-standing and widely respected President resigns as a result of a career advancement.
Mr David Edwards has resigned as President of the Battery Point Sullivans Cove Community Association Inc. due to work commitments.
Mr Edwards took up a temporary position in Sydney in January 2007. However, he has now been offered long-term work with the same company and will be living in Sydney for the foreseeable future.
He has been President of the Association for 13 years.
Incoming president, Dr Ken Hosking thanked Mr Edwards for his service to the Association and the community in Hobart.
“Mr Edwards has been very active in community and professional organisations in Hobart for over 15 years. He represented the residents of the Marieville Esplanade area within the Battery Point Planning Scheme 1979 for a number of years. He has served in senior positions in Bicycle Tasmania, Engineers Australia Tasmania Division, the Council of Hobart Progress Associations, the Marieville Residents Association, Friends of the Sandy Bay Rivulet and many other groups as well as the Battery Point Sullivans Cove Community Association”, Dr Hosking said.
“His contribution to our Association, the Battery Point community and many other Hobart groups will be greatly missed,” he said.
Dr Hosking confirmed that, in accordance with section 22(5) of the constitution of the Association, the Committee of the Association has elected him as President for the remaining period until the next Annual General Meeting of the Association, which is scheduled to be held as soon as practicable after the end of the financial year.
