The timber industry has won, I can no longer afford to allocate rescources to fight this Monster!
Dear Sir,

After leaving my employer, ABB Power Plants Australia,Commissioning Engineer (Victorian Hospitals Co generation project) I returned to my home state, Tasmania, to start a new venture,the design,and manufacture of hi end Class A Audio equipment!

Since moving to the township of Upper Castra, a 15 minute drive from Devonport, about four years ago, my small studio has produced first class equipment, comparable to that of the US and Europe, and used frequently in at least two of Tasmanias premier recording facilities along with other studios world wide!

Now here’s my point. In the last three years the timber and transport companies have made working and living conditions in my home studio untenable for the following reasons.

Water : Timber companies have destroyed my water supply That was the Heathcote rivulet, by planting trees in my catchment area, and use sprays to contaminate my stream.

They have Killed my Trout, Native crayfish, and other species! And I can now no longer use what little water (mud) is available!

Truck Noise and Danger: Though local government has supplied an exaust brake sign at the southern end of our town, drivers mostly ignor it, and appart from the abuse hurled liberally from truck drivers at myself and my clients, the noise in my house from trucks is often in excess of 75db (studio checked!) This goes on 24 hrs a day at random intervals and the harvest traffic increases every year! No-one sleeps properly here! And work is constantly interrupted!

Many of my clients have had narrow escapes with trucks in my driveway as they have little or no regard for speed in residential communities. It’ s only a matter of time before someone is KILLED!

WE ARE MOVING OUT!

Heaven help the people of the beautiful Tamar valley if Gunns pulpmill goes ahead!!!
