The Principal

The Minister for Education today announced tight new measures to curtail growing traffic problems around educational facilities.

“There are a lot of really stupid drivers out there, and we need to educate them just as much as we need to educate our kids”, he pointed out to a large gathering outside Parliament House.

While unveiling the first of a new breed of traffic signs to be erected next month in a statewide blitz, the Minister made the point, “Don’t think for a second that we are going to go easy on these people. Speeding vehicles and children just don’t mix”. “I have a child of my own, so I know what it feels like to be a parent”, he said.

“We owe it to our kids to offer them a relevant curriculum in a well-protected environment”, he added.

Despite these apparent good intentions, the new signs are expected to net the Government a revenue windfall.

The Minister pointed out however, “Our Government is not interested in the money here. If we were, we’d close the schools down altogether”.

He went on to reassure an attentive crowd, “Our kids are worth more than money”. “If we don’t have them then we don’t have a future, and quite frankly, that scenario is not acceptable to this Government”.
