Environment
Reincarnated in Canberra
Wedge Tail Deja-Vu! Same banner, same pulp mill, different government, different name, same old, same old.
Just when you thought cronyism was a Tasmanian disease, it rears it’s ugly head in Canberra.
Take a look at these two web pages:
http://bellbaypulpmill.icn.org.au/au/
http://www.pulpmill.tas.gov.au/
Seems like they came from the same office doesn’t it?
The ‘ICN.ORG’ page is from an organisation that is “financially supported by the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Tourism and Resources (DITR)”
They seem to be selling products and services to or from a pulp mill that hasn’t actually passed the Federal environment assessment process yet. It’s all sounding too familiar isn’t it?
Here is their mission statement page, including an email address:

My take on the ‘fast-track pulp mill panic’ is that somebody at Gunns has woken in the middle of the night and realised that if the Liberals lose office in Canberra later this year then it will be the Midnight Oil singer who has the final say on his precious mill.
Now that really would be ‘deja-vu’ when another pulp mill was given the thumbs-down by another Federal ALP government all those years ago. Luckily there is an obedient premier in Tasmania always willing to take orders.
