Gemma Tillack Wilderness Society
Rally This Thursday 22 March, 12:30pm, Parliament House Lawns
The Wilderness Society is holding a rally at Parliament this Thursday whilst MPs will be debating the legislation to fast-track the approval process for Gunns’ proposed pulp mill.
Speakers include Simeon Michael, the pulpmill-awareness-raising paddler that has just arrived in Hobart after a 2000-kilometre journey from Sydney.
Ultimately the special deal for Gunns will:
• Sideline the independence and expertise of the RPDC;
• Lock the public out of the assessment;
• Encourage other developers to complain about ‘delays’ and seek similar treatment;
• Undermine the state’s planning laws, and;
• Fast-track a pulp mill that will pollute the air in the Tamar Valley, devastate our forests and wildlife, consume precious water resources, and dump toxic organochlorins into Bass Strait.
Please come along and show your opposition to the Lennon government’s attempts to force Gunns’ pulp mill on the people of Tasmania.
Tasmania’s future needs everyone’s support, so pass the message on and come along with friends and family.
