Michelle’s promise
A Contributor
I attended a small but important rally today in Launceston (March 19, 2007), regarding the promise Michelle O’Byrne made to only support the pulp mill if the RPDC assessed it. That’s obviously now not the case, and we wanted Ms O’Byrne to now state publicly that she no longer supports the mill, or at least the new process.
The Examiner said it could not send a photographer/reporter to cover the rally, so we thought we’d be helpful and take the rally to the offices of the Newspaper in Launceston.
The chief of staff, Martin Gilmour, (he was first reported as being Editor Dean Southwell) refused to meet with us, but relented and spoke with ‘Tasmanians Against the Pulp Mill’ Chairperson, Bob McMahon, briefly.
They told Mr McMahon that they would not be giving coverage to mill opponents.
Therefore, I am sending you these pictures, and hope you may find them useful …
