Oh, this is delicious. The former Minster for Immigration, Senator Amanda Vanstone, has provided us with an ‘alternative anthem’, sung to the tune of that old pommy fave, ‘Land of Hope and Glory’.

Isn’t the Senator supposed to be a republican?

Even worse, this bland jingoistic doggerel includes such warming lyrics as “Shining light for freedom …” “Free and friendly nation …” and so on.

I’m sure Cornelia Rau and her family (to provide but one of countless similar examples) will fall over themselves to belt this little number out at the next Australia Day barbecue. You little ripper.
