TCC: new deputy accused

TASMANIA’S new deputy premier has been accused of hiding a secret monopoly deal that led to criminal charges against his predecessor. Steve Kons was today questioned over his own actions, as attorney-general, during the Tasmanian Compliance Corporation (TCC) scandal, which last week saw former deputy premier Bryan Green charged with conspiracy and interfering with an executive officer. Opposition attorney-general spokesman Michael Hodgman told parliament today Mr Kons had failed to explain why he did not refer the deal to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Tim Ellis when he first became aware of it in April.
