Dear All,
We would like to invite you to participate in this month’s UN Forum on Forests on-line discussion forum on links between forest ownership and sustainable forest management. The question posed is: “How do ownership structures affect sustainable forest management: what strategies can be considered to secure forest tenure?” You can access the e-forum via our website at or directly at the WebForum.
Our guest contributor this month is Ritva Toivonen, Research Manager at the Forest Economics Research Group, who has provided us with a broad overview of key issues related to forest ownership/tenure. We would like to thank her for her input. Please note that these guest pieces do not represent the views of the UNFF Secretariat, the UNFF, or its member States.
We encourage you to contribute to what we hope will be a lively and insightful discussion on forest ownership. The discussion board will be open for one-week from 6-13 October 2006. A summary of key issues raised during the online forum will be published in our next UNFF newsletter, due out at the end of October.
Please feel free to distribute this announcement widely.
Best Regards,
