TODAY looms as crunch day for the future of the $300 million Ralphs Bay real estate project. Two pieces of proposed legislation going through Parliament’s Upper House are central to the planned canal housing project near Lauderdale. With three Labor politicians in the Legislative Council set to cross the floor today on one of the bills, the Lauderdale Quay proposal by Sydney-based Walker Corporation faces a new and potentially insurmountable hurdle. Walker’s division manager, Kevin Hunt, admitted yesterday that unless the State Government could legally sell the company 56ha of Ralphs Bay mudflats, it would be forced to abandon the scheme.
