In London, one can wake up each morning to at least five serious newspapers; The Times, The Independent, The Telegraph, The Guardian and The Financial Times, amongst others. In Australia, there is only one broadsheet newspaper in each capital city. Letting any one of these fall under the influence of a media Svengali, co-armed with a television network, is madness in the extreme. What debt do Liberal and National members and senators believe they owe these monkeys when the price is an unfettered right by the few to attack the many; free of objectivity or censure? And as for mere mortals, if these changes go through, one would need one’s passport stamped by the likes of PBL or Seven, for free and unfettered passage through the society.
