How in hell can you not detect woodsmoke (however dry the wood may be) from a distance of only 5 metres! Are we going to see the local Gestapo prowling around the neighborhood enforcing all this nonsense. And where will the fines be directed? Why, straight into general revenue of course — the pool of bottomless waste — from where some lamebrained nitwit bureaucrat can amuse him/herself wasting time dreaming up more of these crackpot halfwitted schemes.

There is also the small matter of 500,000 tonnes of green (yes green) wood waste to be burned each year to power this industrial museum. I can just see the proponent of the pulp mill laughing all the way to the bank while inspectors hand out a $500 fine for this environmental travesty and then the inspectors travel to Invermay to hand out the same fine to an 80 year old pensioner because his plume was 5.2 metres from his chimney.
