Wednesday, 14 June 2006DISCIPLINE MINISTER FOR BREACHING MINISTERIAL CODE OF CONDUCT
And Assure Tasmania the Code is Being Enforced
The Tasmanian Greens today called on the Premier to apologise for misleading Parliament and Tasmanian electors over the Government’s knowledge of the situation with Spirit III after now Deputy Premier Bryan Green admitted he had known since December that “it was going to be tight, it was tough.”
Greens Opposition Leader Peg Putt MHA was scathing of Mr Lennon’s refusal to even answer her question regarding upholding his Ministerial Code of Conduct, saying that the Code was now nothing more than window-dressing.
“The Premier has abandoned upholding and enforcing his Ministerial Code of Conduct or he would discipline the now Deputy Premier for his misleading public statements about Spirit III coming into the recent election,” Ms Putt said.
“The Premier refused to give any assurances to Parliament that his Ministerial Code of Conduct is operational and is being enforced.”
