IT WAS reported in The Mercury on Tuesday that the State Government has advertised for a new Tasmania Together director: “Lee Prince has resigned from the $100,000-plus position to move to another role in the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Phillip Hoysted, former senior private secretary to former attorney-general Judy Jackson, is acting in the role.”

Considering the various stories coming to light on Tas Times and in The Mercury about environmental destruction, mates’ deals, and the level of secrecy practised by the State Government in its dealings with all but the elite of Tasmania, Tasmania Together seems to be even more of a joke than it has been in the past.

I think we all quickly realised that it was just a feel-good ploy by politicians to try to fool Tasmanians into thinking that they had some say in policy.

Check the goals and standards at http://www.tasmaniatogether.tas.gov.au/ to compare government spin with reality. What is the cost of maintaining this farce?

The government should disband Tas Together now and stop the play-acting.

Resources would be better spent on the “Better Cities” programme that was announced by Judy Jackson with great fanfare well before the recent election, but one that seems to have died without any runs on the board.

Just another furphy?
