Latest Research on Young Same-Sex Attracted Young People
Dr Lynne Hillier from the Australian Research Centre in Sex, Health & Society, LaTrobe University, will present the findings of the second national study on the sexuality, health and well-being of same-sex attracted young people. After the first study conducted in 1998, Lynne and her colleagues returned in 2004 to find out what had changed. Lynne will report on the most recent survey to which 1749 young people responded.
Hear about same sex attracted young people’s experiences including:
• Sexual feelings and behaviour
• Discrimination and abuse and it’s impacts
• Drug and alcohol use
• Access to support and information around disclosure and relationship and sex education
• Impacts of culture, religion, gender and geographical location
There will plenty of time to ask questions and discuss strategies to improve your work practice with same sex attracted young people.
