Cumulus Studio are excited to begin official building works on the Cradle
Mountain Gateway Precinct following State Government approval of
Fairbrother as the project contractor.
The precinct replaces out-dated site infrastructure allowing the Cradle
Mountain National Park to accommodate growing visitor numbers.
Cumulus Director Peter Walker said the contract approval, was a major
milestone for Tasmanian tourism.
“With Cradle Mountain visitor numbers continuing to surge, it’s fantastic to
see this much-needed project begin construction,” Mr Walker said.
“We have worked closely with State Government, the Cradle Coast
Community and a range of project stakeholders throughout the tender
procurement process and are extremely confident in the capability of
Fairbrother as project contractor.”
The Cradle Mountain Gateway Precinct represents the first stage of the
Cradle Mountain Master Plan, developed by Cumulus Studio and Inspired
by Marketing in 2016.
The precinct, including new visitor centre, orientation building, commercial
services base, shuttle bus shelter, and coach transit building, has been
designed to offer an alpine village feel, with geometric forms reflecting the
geology of Cradle Mountain.
With Fairbrother set to begin works this week, the State Government today
released an EOI Investment Prospectus to support the development of the
Gateway Precinct.
“The commencement of the EOI Prospectus presents another exciting step
towards the realisation of the Cradle Mountain Master Plan,” Mr Walker
added.
Proposals are set to include accommodation, retail and hospitality options,
with a strong focus on Tasmanian products.
