And now I find myself here. With all of you. I add my voice to yours. I become a part of your collective courage that simply calls out. You are no longer unheard voices in the wilderness…but voices for the wilderness calling loud and heard across the country with one simple message. No more! One of the many voices calling out from one of the most beautiful places left on earth. My forest in my Tasmania.
I HAVE NEVER considered myself an activist, neither politically or environmentally. But its impossible to ignore the strong feelings about the deplorable way things you love are treated by those who do not share those feelings. Then it becomes natural to strut the stage and have something to say about it.
I am a songwriter. An artist. I write mostly about love. Relationships. Broken hearts. Healing hearts.
Some of borne’s new material have undeniable environmental messages for those that choose to really listen, our next single “If we go down” goes to radio on June 1st. There is a message for all of mankind. It’s simple. If we go down, we all go down together.
I am here today because the message could not be more simple. The time will never be so precious. The voices never so deafening and so quiet all at the same time. Those of you who have chosen to come here today to witness the launch of the ‘Forests Forever’ CD are the voices that shout the loudest.
I have found myself at times thinking, “What can I do? Nobody seems to listen! Nor care! How do I make a difference when I alone only count for one person?”
I then found myself picking up the phone. I found myself talking to Vica Bailey of the wilderness society…and to Lilia Letsch of the Huon Valley environment centre.
I then found myself in a recording booth in Sydney singing a song that was sung to me as a child. A song about a tree…the beauty of a tree…and the folly of mankind
As I am angered at the ignorance that would destroy these beautiful forests, I am equally humbled by the invitation to launch this album. An album whose principle aim is to save them for generations to come. An album with a simple message from artists who share the fundamental belief that forests are important…and forests should be …FOREVER!
