• A Severe Weather Warning for damaging winds is current for Tasmania ahead of cold fronts crossing the state from Tuesday.
• Strong north to northwesterly winds averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are possible Tuesday afternoon before easing in the evening.
• Blustery conditions will continue for most of the week with particularly strong and gusty winds expected again Wednesday afternoon, which may result in another Severe Weather Warning being issued.
• Severe Weather Warnings are posted at www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings
• The cold fronts will bring significant rainfall Tuesday to Thursday with three-day totals in excess of 100 mm expected in the west, 40-60 mm in the north and up to 80 mm possible in elevated areas of the north west and north east.
• Catchments are wet and river rises are expected at many locations due to the forecast rainfall, which may result in minor flooding at some locations.
• Flood watch and warning products will be reviewed regularly during this period and updated at www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings as required.
• Isolated thunderstorms with the chance of small hail are possible in the west and north Tuesday night.
• Snow will develop above 700 metres from Tuesday night.
