A family of Tamil asylum seekers has lost an appeal to stay in Australia, forcing supporters of the family to to seek the direct intervention of home affairs minister Peter Dutton to overturn their deportation.
Nadesalingam, Priya and their Australian-born infant daughters, Dharuniga and Kopika, were seized by the Australian Border Force in March and transported from the central Queensland town of Biloela to immigration detention in Melbourne.
