New and re-elected Members of Parliament take on critical portfolio areas
Hodgman Ministers will be held to account in key health, housing, education, infrastructure, economic areas
Labor Shadow Cabinet a diverse blend of experience from all walks of life
Labor Leader Rebecca White has announced a revitalised Shadow Cabinet reflecting the diversity and depth of talent in the new Parliamentary Labor Party.
Ms White said re-elected Labor MPs Michelle O’Byrne, Scott Bacon and Shane Broad would be joined by Sarah Lovell and Josh Willie and newly elected Members Anita Dow, Ella Haddad and David O’Byrne as members of the Shadow Cabinet in key portfolio areas.
“Labor’s Shadow Cabinet is a true reflection of the depth and diversity of our team and highlights the fact that our Members come from all walks of life and are dedicated to their communities which is fundamental to providing good representation across Tasmania,” Ms White said.
“There is a wealth of experience in representatives in the Parliamentary Labor Party – people who have lived and worked in the community, listened to the community and will act in the best interests of all Tasmanians in the community from the south to the north to the north west.
“I’m proud of this team and Tasmanians can be assured we will hold the Hodgman Liberal Government and its Ministers to account, particularly as the crisis in our health and hospital system continues and the government shows no sign of making the crisis in housing a priority.
“The allocation of responsibilities across our Shadow Cabinet reflects our priorities for Tasmanians.
“Labor will continue to focus on key frontline service areas that matter to Tasmanians and their everyday lives – areas such as health and housing, education and employment and building infrastructure – areas where the Liberals have been a proven failure.”
