• A squally cold front will cross Tasmania Wednesday morning bringing strong and gusty west to northwesterly winds, and statewide rainfall.
• Strong and gusty northwesterly winds will shift westerly during the morning and ease a little later in the day.
• A Severe Weather Warning for Damaging Winds during Wednesday has been issued (www.bom.gov.au/tas/warnings/ ) for the north and west of the state.
• Damaging wind gusts up to 100km/h are possible in parts of the north and west as the front crosses the state. Wind gusts in excess of 110km/h are possible with isolated thunderstorms across the north.
• Gusty thunderstorms and small hail are possible statewide but mainly in the north, west and east coast during the morning.
• Early morning showers in the north before rain extends statewide with the front. The highest totals are expected over elevated parts of the north (30-40mm), the remaining north and west (20-30mm), and the northeast (10-20mm). Statewide showers will contract to the west and south by the evening.
• Gale warnings will be in place for all coastal areas.
• Snowline will briefly lower to around 1100-1200 metres during the afternoon, before lifting above 1400 metres in the evening.
• Light showers will continue on Thursday, a further 10-20mm expected in the west, and strong westerly winds prevailing for much of the day.
