Lucas Peters from Old Beach wants to know what it feels like to be rich for a day. That’s what he told Make A Wish Hobart volunteers Allana and Kaye when they visited him earlier this year.
Lucas, a grade 5-6 student from Sacred Heart, has Ullrich Congenial Muscular Dystrophy and is looking forward to going to Sydney in March for his cherished wish to be granted.
As part of the “anticipation phase” of Lucas’ wish, the Hobart branch of Make A Wish have planned a special surprise for Lucas on Wednesday.
“We wanted to give Lucas a taster of what he has in store for him when he goes to Sydney in March. Lucas will be collected from school on Wednesday where a red carpet will be rolled out for him, taking him to a limousine which will transport him to Wrest Point where he and his family will be treated to a special high tea in The Point revolving restaurant, custom designed just for Lucas” said Kaye Nugent, Make-A-Wish Hobart branch volunteer.
Whilst in Sydney Lucas will be treated to a ride in a Lamborghini and will spend a day “shopping like the rich and famous”. He will also have his own custom designed suit made for him to wear while he is in Sydney.
Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions and has been working with Hobart families for more than 20 years. Wrest Point have been a sponsor of the branch for the past few years and allow the volunteers to meet in one of their meeting rooms on a monthly basis – free of charge.
“We thought it would be a great opportunity to have one of our major supporters involved in making Lucas’ wish anticipation journey come to fruition. Wrest Point have been a major sponsor of our gala ball for a number of years and we are pleased to be partnering with them again in 2018”
The 2018 Make A Wish Charity Ball will be held on Saturday 5 May at Wrest Point. Tickets will go on sale in the New Year.
