As part of the Hodgman Liberal Government’s ‘Tasmania First’ energy policy, we are doing all we can to keep power prices and cost of living expenses low for Tasmanians.
Under the Tasmanian Energy Efficiency Loan Scheme (TEELS) Tasmanian residential and small business customers are able to access interest-free loans to purchase energy efficiency products such as heat pumps, solar hot water or solar panels to help improve and reduce energy use.
I’m very pleased to announce that 1,691 applicants have had a collective total of $12.79 million approved under the TEELS scheme as at 3 December 2017.
This is a fantastic take up which will allow Tasmanian households and businesses to make significant reductions to their energy costs on an ongoing basis.
This partnership between the Government, Aurora Energy, and Westpac Banking Corporation allows residential customers to access funds from $500 to $10,000, while small business customers may access loans from $10,000 to $40,000.
TEELS complements the existing No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS) which supports concession customers to buy energy efficient appliances for their homes.
This is just another example of the Tasmania-first energy policy working to deliver lower electricity bills for Tasmanians.
