Thirty-six Tasmanian artists will receive a share of $350,000 for 32 projects as part of Arts Tasmania’s Artist Investment Program.
The Hodgman Liberal Government is a proud supporter of the arts and this funding will assist artists to develop new works, engage with audiences locally and globally, record albums and much more.
Among the artists to receive funding include internationally renowned violinist Peter Tanfield and pianist Shan Deng, who play together as Duo Tasman.
The funding will allow Duo Tasman to tour three cities in China and premiere a new work by Tasmanian composer, Maria Grenfell.
Hobart metal band Psycroptic will undertake a full South American headline tour in June 2018, which will help them gain traction in a new market, as well as work towards establishing a wider touring circuit.
Launceston based Peter Bowles will use the funding to develop new works in glass and attend the Glass Art Society International Conference in Murano, Italy.
The Hodgman Liberal Government has also committed to a range of initiatives such as the Artsbridge Program, which provides quick response funding for local artists to travel, or community organisations to bring artists to Tasmania for professional development.
