More than 50 new TasWater training graduates are being celebrated at a presentation ceremony in Hobart this week and in Launceston next week.
The training courses include certificates in water operations, work health and safety, and human resources as well as 39 certificates and diplomas in project management.
Sheffield-based TasWater Treatment Plant and Reticulated Services Operator, Christine Cottee, successfully completed her Certificate III in Water Operations.
“The water and wastewater industry is very interesting as well as being a vital part of the community. I have always had an ongoing interest in caring for our environment and I believe that water and sewerage plays a big part in that.” Ms Cottee said.
“I felt it was important to get my Certificate III to further my skills and knowledge and ensure that I am competent in my role as a Treatment Plant Operator. I feel proud to have achieved this goal.”
TasWater CEO Mike Brewster is pleased to be able to congratulate the new graduates and recognise the effort required to commit to these qualifications while balancing work, home-life, family and other commitments.
“Last year TasWater received the Large Employer of the Year Award at the Tasmanian Training Awards. It is important for us to keep up this momentum and make sure our employees have the skills and knowledge through formal qualifications to provide vital water and sewerage services across the state.” Mr Brewster said.
“TasWater is working through a sensible ten-year, fully-funded affordable infrastructure plan to improve water and sewerage assets within Tasmania. Our staff will get us there, and at the same time will build the skills capacity in our state.”
TasWater is one of the state’s largest employers and is proud of its commitment to training and upskilling this workforce.
