• Report will inform development of Labor’s gaming policy
• Important that time is taken for thorough consultation
The Labor Party welcomes the release of the Joint Select Committee report on Future Gaming Markets.
Labor Leader Rebecca White said the Labor Party would carefully consider the report’s findings and recommendations.
“I have always said that the Labor Party will await the release of this report and use it to inform the development of our policy on gaming,” Ms White said.
“However, it is important that we also take the time to consult with all stakeholders, including the industry and the community sector.
“We will be having comprehensive discussions in communities around the state now the report is published.
“Labor is committed to supporting vulnerable people, but also ensuring that we look after working Tasmanians, particularly in our regions.
“Labor’s policy on gaming will be released well before the next election.”
