• A cold front will cross Tasmania on Saturday afternoon and evening bringing colder temperatures, winds and rain for most areas.
• Snow levels are expected to fall to around 200-300 metres in the south and west during Saturday evening; however, it is unlikely snow will settle to these levels in most areas. The snow level will rise again from Sunday morning to around 900 metres.
• Possible small hail in the west and south of the state late Saturday and early Sunday morning.
• Gusty winds of between 25 and 40 knots (46-74 km/h) expected locally with up to 45 knots (85km/h) in elevated areas on Saturday and into Sunday morning before easing during Sunday afternoon.
• Rainfall totals for Saturday between 20-40mm in the west, between 5-10mm in the north and less than 5mm elsewhere.
• The following warnings are currently in place for Saturday:
• Strong Wind Warning for all coastal waters, including all southeast inshore waters except the Derwent Estuary.
• Small Craft Wind Alert for the southwest and central plateau lakes.
• Bushwalkers Weather Alert for the west and central plateau.
• Sheep Graziers for the southeast, northwest coast, east coast and parts of King Island.
• A Road Weather Alert for snow to low levels is likely to be issued on Saturday.
