In perhaps the clearest sign yet that he has far too much time on his hands, former prime minister Tony Abbott has released a Donald Trump-esque policy manifesto he believes the government should adopt to win the next election.

In a speech to the Institute of Public Affairs yesterday, Abbott launched his imaginatively titled plan, “Make Australia Work Again”. Abbott’s proposals, which can be viewed on his website, include lowering house prices by limiting immigration, freezing the renewable energy target at 15 per cent, a moratorium on wind farms, and banning new government spending other than on infrastructure and defence.
