The Tasmanian Special Timbers Alliance is disappointed that Forestry (Unlocking Production Forests) Bill 2017 was voted down today by the Legislative Council.

Andrew Denman of the Tasmanian Special Timbers Alliance (TSTA) said;

“Access to the Future Potential Production Forest (FPPF) land for specialty timber supply is critical for the ongoing viability of the special timbers sector. It is very disappointing that the legislation did not pass the Upper House and it is now essential that changes are swiftly made to existing legislation to simplify access to FPPF land for the special timbers sector.”

“The Special Timbers sector now faces further uncertainty, and TSTA calls on all sides of politics to support changes to existing legislation to ensure the Sector’s survival.”
