There will be a peace witness protest being conducted at the main entrance gates to the Headquarters – Joint Operations Command military base (HQ JOC) in Canberra tomorrow morning (Friday 28th April), commencing between 7am and 7:30am, and going for approximately 2 hours.
Although the activists involved are not intending to be arrested, as this is a secret/sensitive military installation and formal permission has not been granted to conduct the protest at this time by the AFP or JOC (although they have been notified of the activists intent), there is a likelihood that arrests may occur during the protest tomorrow morning (today).
This will be the 2nd time only a protest has been attempted at the main gates to the HQ JOC, after a protest was held there in 2015 by the Quaker Grannies, who are also associated with tomorrow morning’s event. HQ JOC is located East off Bungendore Road approx 30 mins drive from Canberra, on the route to Bungendore, and signposted as HQ JOC on the main road.
