Dear Editor,
I am forced back into public discussion against my preference.
Senator Jacquie Lambie, representing Tasmanians, has previously expressed her admiration for President Putin of Russia.
Given the despicable event of the recent chemical attack on civilians in Syria, and Putin’s support for the Assad regime, I call on Senator Lambie to publicly retract her support for Putin and join with the international community in condemning, in absolute terms, the use of chemical weapons.
Senator Lambie should call on all Tasmanian politicians, State and Federal, to join her in a submission on our behalf to the United Nations, expressing our outrage.
Unless every Tasmanian citizen takes a resolute stand, this outrage will pass with the news cycle. For humanity’s sake, it must not.
