The Federal Member for Bass, Ross Hart has today had to set the Treasurer Scott Morrison straight on his support for small businesses in Bass.
On Wednesday during Question Time the Treasurer unfairly targeted Mr Hart by suggesting he wants small businesses to pay higher taxes and prevent small businesses ability to invest and grow.
Mr Hart said “let’s be clear, I support small businesses, I have advised small businesses for over 30 years, and I know firsthand the pressures of small businesses. I want small business to grow and prosper in Bass.”
“Decisions this Government makes with respect to reducing discretionary spending through cuts to pensioners, cuts to families, cuts to payments to university students and penalty rate cuts to low wage earners will have a direct effect on revenue for small businesses.”
“The Treasurer should be more concerned with the Turnbull Government’s decision to leave Australia’s premier maritime vocational trainer, the Australian Maritime College, in the dark over their decision to create a maritime training facility in South Australia.
The Treasurer needs to explain why the Government is wasting money on duplication of administration and course design in Adelaide when the AMC is the lead research and training establishment recognised worldwide.
His cabinet Minister Mr Pyne admitted on local radio that the AMC is the preeminent internationally recognised provider of maritime training.
Whilst he apparently doesn’t understand AMC’s role in vocational and sub-degree courses, he wants to further waste money on a tender process for the South Australian facility.
