Premier and Treasurer silent on 94 job losses at TasWater
The Liberals are promising to do more work with less employees
Labor opposes the job losses and urges TasWater to reconsider
The Hodgman Government has been silent on 94 TasWater workers facing unemployment.
Opposition Leader Bryan Green said Labor calls on the organisation to cease shedding jobs.
“TasWater should immediately cease the job losses,” Mr Green said.
“The Government claims TasWater is set for a record amount of work but is happy to stand by and see 94 workers removed.
“If the Premier and Treasurer were serious about upgrading Tasmania’s water and sewerage infrastructure, they’d try and step in and stop these job losses.
“Under both the Government and Labor’s plan, TasWater will require skilled workers to complete projects across the state.
“Is the Premier happy to see TasWater shed 94 jobs?
“Labor is working closely with the CEPU and ASU to see what can be done to assists the workers affected.”
