Workers are putting the finishing touches on the brand-new Baskerville Raceway track ahead of the Tasmanian Super Series opening event later this month.

In an outstanding three-year fundraising campaign, the Baskerville Foundation has raised just shy of $1 million to completely refurbish and resurface the iconic Tasmanian raceway.

The Baskerville Foundation’s ambitious funding goal was realised earlier this year thanks to a series of successful events and initiatives, including the flying finish competition, awarding the winner with the opportunity to complete the first flying lap on the new track.

Far beyond a simple track resurface, upgrades include a refurbished control tower, new site entry, major drainage works, new track electronics and a complete footbridge restoration.

Thanks to the generous donations and hard work of Tasmanian motorsport enthusiasts, the foundation has completed a major infrastructure upgrade that will provide Tasmanian drivers with a first-class racing facility into the future.

Baskerville Foundation Chairman, Peter Killick was excited to announce the works were approaching completion.

“The track is looking fantastic and it’s great to see all our hard work come to fruition,” said Mr Killick.

“I would like to recognise all of the amazing support we have received along the way.

“We couldn’t have done any of this without the support of our amazing volunteers who put in countless hours to complete the project.

The foundation was established in 2013 with the goal of raising funds to resurface the aging track within four years.

After three years of extensive works, campaigning and fundraising, the refurbishment works are set for completion well ahead of schedule.

The new Baskerville Raceway will officially open at Round 2 of the HSCC Tasmanian Super Series event on Saturday, 18 March.
