… completing its role in anti-whaling campaign
The Steve Irwin is set to return to Melbourne after completing its role in Sea Shepherd’s 11th Antarctic whale defence campaign, Operation Nemesis. Spending 83 days at sea, the ship was able to document the first evidence of Japanese whalers continuing to slaughter whales after the International Court of Justice case ruled their previous whaling programme was illegal. The other ship involved in Operation Nemesis, the Ocean Warrior, remains at sea continuing the anti-whaling campaign.
