Please join the Launceston Palm Sunday Walk for Refugees on Sunday 9 April. This event is being organised in liaison with Launceston churches, Migrant Resource Centre and Unions Tasmania.

THE PICNIC
Join us for a byo picnic lunch at 12.30pm in Princes Square.

THE WALK
OR come at 1.45pm ready for a 2pm start to the walk. Please wear t shirts etc and carry banners to represent your organisation, or to speak out for refugees – if you wish to do so. NOTE: banners must be small and without sharp edges/corners. We will be walking on footpaths shared at times by other pedestrians. We will have a larger cloth banner at the front of the walk. We will walk from Princes Square to City Park via the Mall.

THE CELEBRATION
At about 2.30pm we will enjoy a multicultural celebration for about 30 minutes near the Hart Conservatory. In addition to wonderful music, dance and a speech by our refugee communities, Ella Dixon (CEO of the Migrant Resource Centre) and Steve Biddulph (well-known local speaker and author) will briefly address the crowd.

Hopefully coffee will be available for purchase from Victoria’s (at the side of the Albert Hall, adjacent to the City Park. We will seek to arrange with them stay open for us.
