The Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group has welcomed the appointment of Sarah Bolt as the new Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Commissioner and thanked Robin Banks for “setting a high standard”.

TGLRG spokesperson, Rodney Croome, said,

“As a former Commissioner, Sarah Bolt, has the experience needed to protect the rights of Tasmanians vulnerable to discrimination, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people.”

“We will be seeking a meeting with Ms Bolt as soon as possible to brief her on issues of concern to the LGBTI community.”

Mr Croome praised outgoing Commisisoner, Rodbin Banks.

“Robin Banks is one of Australia’s most effective and highly-principled human rights defenders.”

“She has set a high standard not only for her successors in Tasmania but for anti-discrimination commissioners around the nation.”

Ms Bolt has previously served a term as the Tasmanian Anti-Discrimination Commissioner.
