Prime Minister snubs Tasmania in ministry reshuffle
Liberal Party politics disadvantaging the state
Tasmania misses out on vital funding with no voice at the table
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has again snubbed Tasmania, leaving the state without representation in his Ministry.
Labor Leader Bryan Green said Tasmanians are being punished for our Liberal representatives backing the wrong horse.
“Liberal Party politics are hurting Tasmania,” Mr Green said.
“The Prime Minister has no interest in promoting a Tasmanian to the Ministry because the likes of Eric Abetz remain staunch Tony Abbott supporters.
“And the Liberal Senators only have themselves to blame. They dumped the only previous Minister from Tasmania in Richard Colbeck.
“We’ve been left with no influence inside the Ministry when it comes to critical issues affecting our state.
“Crucial issues like funding for the Mersey Hospital remain up in the air.
“Tasmania is clearly the poor relation in the eyes of the Turnbull Government and Will Hodgman is too weak to do anything about it.
“As long as the state is an afterthought for the Liberals in Canberra, we’ll continue to miss out on vital funding for services across the state.
“We’ve seen it in rural health, we’ve seen in it public education and we’ve seen it in regional infrastructure.”
