The SFP Party Tasmania calls on all politicians to publically renounce their parliamentarian pensions and other perks their receive after serving office.
SPF Party Tasmania will continue to support and advocate for those on an aged pension, many who live in regional and remote communities. We call on all politicians to offer real support for aged pensioners.
Aged pensioners work hard all their life’s, made many sacrifices and contribute positively to our great country and their deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. The manner in which past and current politicians treat them is nothing short of disgraceful.
Recent changes to the age pension asset test introduced on January 1 will see more many retirees lose all or part of their pension.
These changes passed Federal Parliament in June 2015 as part of $2.4 billion savings measure proposed by the government and supported by the Greens.
Yet we continue to see politicians vote for their own salary increases and still happy to receive parliamentarian pensions and other perks after serving office.
It is time for politicians, both current and past to lift their noses out of the tax payers trough and fund their own retirement; politicians age of entitlement must be called to an end.
It is understood a typical federal backbencher’s base salary is over $195,000 and under the Parliamentary Contributory Superannuation Scheme a federal politician annual pension is over 100k per annum plus a range of other perks.
