LOCAL INDEPENDENT for Rumney, Steve Mav today called on the sitting member, Tony Mulder MLC, to stop placing illegal election signs throughout the Rumney electorate following complaints received from residents in all three Councils affected.
“Tony Mulder should know what’s right and what’s wrong. Just because he’s a former police officer doesn’t place him above the law and the illegal posters need to come down immediately.
“Tony Mulder’s actions breach local government rules and having already been warned by one council to ‘play by the rules’, Mr. Mulder’s arrogance and belief he can get away with it shows how out-of-touch he has become.
“I have been contacted my members of the public who have seen Mr. Mulder’s election signs in the City of Clarence, Sorell Municipality and the Tasman Councils and asking me why he’s being allowed to get away with it?
“While I’ve been doorknocking residents have been saying how unfair it is to the other candidates.
“The Clarence, Sorell and Tasman Councils are aware of Tony Mulder’s actions and are taking appropriate action.
“Tony Mulder is racing around the electorate introducing himself after nearly six years in the job missing-in action and justifying why he voted to give himself a 10.5% pay increase earlier this year.
“People are sick and tired of politicians who place themselves above community standards enjoying all these lurks and perks and want someone to change the system.
“Over the next few months I will continue to outline my social and economic plan that will create jobs and address cost-of living issues facing Tasmanians in Rumney and throughout the State”, Mr Mav said.
