 Premier must remove State Growth Minister for mishandling crucial development
 Groom’s incompetence has cost the state dearly
 Immediate solution to sewerage works must be implemented
Premier Will Hodgman needs to sack State Growth Minister Matthew Groom over his mishandling of the Macquarie Point redevelopment.
Shadow Planning Minister Madeleine Ogilvie said the Minister has cost the state millions of dollars and held back enormous employment opportunities.
“Matthew Groom must take responsibility for the massive failings of the Macquarie Point redevelopment,” Ms Ogilvie said.
“The lack of progress to this point is embarrassing and has cost the state millions of dollars and hundreds of jobs.
“The failure of such a massive project should be the final straw for Matthew Groom, who has been an abysmal Minister.
“The Premier needs to step in, sack his Minister and take control of the situation.
“This project is too important to be mishandled by Matthew Groom any longer.
“The Government must immediately find a solution for the sewerage works relocation issue that is holding the project up.
“The Liberals have done nothing over the past two and a half years.
“The Minister has failed to engage with Infrastructure Australia to secure funding to move the sewerage works.
“The Minister cannot blame the Macquarie Point Development Corporation for his own failings.
“If Matthew Groom scraps the Corporation to save his own political skin, Tasmanians will see him for what he is – a Minister completely lacking in leadership.”
