A total of 22 outstanding tourism operators from across the State are the toast of the town, acknowledged as the very best of the tourism industry at a gala event hosted by the Tasmanian Tourism Industry Council tonight.

Congratulations to all the exciting tourism operators, products and exceptional visitor experiences honoured at the Tasmanian Tourism Awards.

It is only because of the hard work of these tourism operators that Tasmania’s tourism sector is able to continue to lead the nation.

Congratulations also to the Premier’s Young Achiever Award winner, Greg Irons of Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Greg has built the Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary into an award-winning tourist attraction.

The Government continues to back out tourism industry to grow and create more jobs, particularly in regional Tasmania. We still have some way to go to reach our full potential as a visitor destination so we will continue to invest in skills development and infrastructure, and to create an atmosphere for start-ups and unique experiences so that we can stay a destination leader.

Winners will represent the State at the national awards to be held early next year.
