• Health Minister must address bed shortages at the Royal
• ‘Level 3 Red’ status regularly reached
• Ferguson can’t claim it’s all part of the plan
Shadow Health Minister Rebecca White said reports of critical bed shortages at the Royal Hobart Hospital are very concerning.
“Michael Ferguson must finally concede that things are getting worse under his watch instead of better,” Ms White said.
“The bed shortage at the Royal regularly reaching ‘Level 3 Red’ status is very concerning.
“As the Australian Nurses Union has said, it’s not a safe way to run our hospitals and I do not accept the Minister’s argument that it’s all part of his plan.
“Liberal budget cuts have put our hospitals under extreme pressure and patients and staff are feeling the consequences.
“Beds are not being appropriately staffed in wards and emergency departments across the state.
“The cuts in the Liberal Government’s first budget are still being felt.”
