Friday Nights Live, the Moonah Arts Centre’s regular live music series continues next Friday, October 7 with East West Quest

East-West Quest is the collaboration of renown Tasmanian musicians. Guiseppi Badalassi (Piano), Lynne Griffiths (Harp, Flute), Roman Astra (Sitar, Indian violin, vocals) and Santhana (Tabla) enjoy mixing and matching styles and there is always time for some tongue in cheek humour.

Part of the intrigue of the music arises from the interweaving of both Western and Eastern scales.

EAST-WEST QUEST have played their otherworldly music at the Cygnet Folk Festival, at the Rosny Barn and at the Peacock Theater in the past.

This time the inclusion of Santhanam Gopala from Madras will add an extra dimension to the colourful musical fabric the ensemble weaves. Combining notation, modes and harmonies from both Eastern and Western music, the group create a style all of their own. Their performances and house concerts are usually well attended and listeners have commented they felt like being taken on a musical journeys.
